라스베가스에서 개최되고 있는 CES 2015에서 공개된 IO Hawk 입니다.

만약에 스케이트보드나 세그웨이가 좀 이상했고, 하이테크 기술을 좋아하는 어린이라면, 정답은 바로 IO Hawk 입니다. 

회사 이름이기도 한 IO Hawk는 스스로 균형을 잡는 개인 운송수단 입니다. 이번 CES 2015에서 많은 신기술 제품이 나오고 있는데요, IO Hawk도 그 중 하나입니다.

핸들이 없다는 것을 제외하면 세그웨이 (Segway)와도 비슷한데요. 전원으로는 배터리를 사용하고 있으며, 가고싶은 방향으로 발로 살짝 압력을 주면 모터를 이용해서 이동할 수 있습니다. 균형을 약간 기울이면, IO Hawk가 반응해서 기울인 방향으로 이동을 하고요. 관계자는 "익숙해지는데 시간이 오래 걸리지 않는다" 고 하네요. 

IO Hawk의 무게는 22파운드(약 10kg) 이고 6mph(약 10km/h)의 속도를 낼 수 있다고 합니다. 또한 아래쪽에 안전등도 있고요. 

색상은 흰색, 빨간색, 검정색으로 출시가 되며 IO Hawk 홈페이지에서 프리오더가 가능합니다.

가격은 $1,800로 한화 약 200만원 정도이지만 회사측에서는 가격이 내려가길 기대하고 있다고 하네요.

LAS VEGAS — If the skateboard and Segway had a strange, high-tech love child, it would be the IO Hawk. It's as weird and wonderful as it sounds.

The IO Hawk, by the company with the same name, is a self-balancing motorized personal transporter. It's one of the many tech products on display at the 2015 International CES this week.

Similar to the Segway (but minus the handle bars), the product is powered by batteries, motors and uses slight pressure from your feet to guide it where you want it to go. When you shift your balance, the device responds and moves in that direction.

The IO Hawk weighs in at 22 pounds and can travel up to 6 mph. There are also lights behind the base as a security measure — plus, it adds to the eye-catching cool factor as riders zip along.

While the startup hopes people will one day commute on the product — or use as one would use a Segway to get around — it says there is also potential for it in amusement parks and at promotional events.

It comes in three colors (white, red and black) and is available for pre-order on the IO Hawk website. While it costs $1800, the company told Mashable "we're hoping to get the price down soon."
